Many might be surprised to know that Madhya Pradesh is an integral part of a traveller’s map. Apart from the already existing attractions like Bandhavgarh National Park, Dhuandhar Falls, Narmada River and Orchha Fort, Madhya Pradesh Tourist Development Corporation has recently developed Hanumantiya Island, in a move to promote water tourism in the state. The island is located in the reservoir of Indira Sagar Dam on Narmada River.
Recreational Activities to Enjoy: Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation has invested a whopping Rs 8 crore to construct a boat club, cruise facility and motorboat rides in and around the island. The island area will also be having a restaurant and 10 cottages to accommodate tourists during their visits. Apart from developing a water sports complex, the tourism department has also decided to plant trees and ensure significant amount of greenery at the island.
What to Look Out For: MP Tourism body will also be hosting a Water Festival at this island from February 12 to 21, 2016. Around 120 tents will be set up around the island to accommodate tourists during the festival. A special Food and Craft Bazaar will also be organized during the festival. Activities like volleyball and kite flying will also be offered apart from regular water sports.
Madhya Pradesh expects Hanumantiya Island to emerge as the most favoured spot for water and adventure tourism in the country.
