Deputy Chief Minister, Goa, Francis D’Souza inaugurated the second version of the Goa Heritage Festival was founded by Dilip Parulekar, Minister for Tourism, Woman & Child Development, Government of Goa; along with Nilesh Cabral, MLA and Chairman, Goa Tourism Development Corporation on January 7, 2014 at the Football Ground in Saligao. The session saw participation of over 4,000 visitors, as per a release.
Goan varieties like sausages, cashew feni, wood craft, coconut shell craft, crochet and needle work, terracotta, hand-painted tiles, Loka Daij, heritage photo gallery, etc and also the state’s heritage were displayed by the Festival. “Every Goan should be proud of their heritage and culture. We are happy to organise the second annual Heritage Festival near the beautiful Mae de Deus church, which is a 125-year-old heritage structure. We hope that all tourists witness this Festival and enjoy Goa’s rich heritage.” Parulekar expressed.
Guests also got an opportunity to watch the Divli-naach, Mando, Goff dance, Ganesh Vandana, tarang. The Department of Tourism has a lot of strategies and plans to make this event an annual proposal and make it bigger to include many more local artists and also Goan culture to give tourists a hearty taste of Goa.
